MY FIRST OLYMPIC DISTANCE TRIATHLON IS JULY 9, 2017. WEEK 6 OF MY TRAINING REBOOT.

Last week You can read about last week’s training here. I did not complete all my planned training. Why? I was in Japan. I had three problems. 1) Schedule (limited time for training). 2) Access to a bike. 3) Access to a pool. Note that the training, as posted, is what on I actually completed (event and day of the week). This week Week Swim Bike Run Weight training Sat…

I should have completed my first (Olympic distance) triathlon today

About two months ago, my left knee started to hurt. I felt pain even when stationary. I stopped my Olympic distance training to de-stress my left knee and recover. Not knowing how long it would take to recover, I dropped out of my (planned) first Olympic triathlon (May 21, 2017) and signed up for a new one (July 9, 2017). This was a good decision. Why? The main reason was…

MY FIRST OLYMPIC DISTANCE TRIATHLON IS JULY 9, 2017 – WEEK 5 OF MY TRAINING REBOOT

My left knee If you’ve been following along, you know that my left knee stopped cooperating 6 weeks ago. It severely interrupted my triathlon training. I signed up for a different triathlon, scheduled for July 9….

Stories we tell ourselves

I planned three bike rides this week: 12-mile, 10-mile and 10-mile. This morning I went on a 12 mile bike ride. Outside, it was sunny, but chilly and windy. Miles 6 to 9 were tough, as I was going against the wind. Unconsciously, I was telling myself a story. I should convert this bike ride to one of my 10-mile rides. Why? It won’t be as windy later this week. At…

My triathlon is July 9th. This is week 3 of my training reboot.

My saga If you’ve been following my saga on Twitter, you know that my left knee stopped cooperating a month (plus) ago. It severely interrupted my triathlon training. So much so, that I dropped out of my planned triathlon (1 mile swim, 25 mile bike, 6 mile run), which was scheduled for May 21 (2017). I took a few weeks off to recover.
